U of L Earth Day Symposium Ignites Conversation About Environmental Issues

With an estimated 150 attendees spanning many continents, the Earth Day Symposium 2021: Climate Change came to fruition on April 1st and was a great success. The Earth Day Symposium’s mission is to bring awareness to, celebrate efforts on, and encourage people to engage with environmental issues.

Global Citizenship Cohort - Chase Petruska

Second-year neuroscience student Chase Petruska chose the University of Lethbridge because this is where the CCBN is. The new science building and the smaller class sizes were also a draw. Last year, Chase participated in the Global Citizenship Cohort (GCC) in the Changing Worldviews theme.

Global Citizenship Cohort - Natalia Vanzo Jais

Second-year archaeology and geography student Natalia Vanzo Jais hails from Florianópolis, Brazil. She chose the University of Lethbridge because it was the only institution where she could study archaeology and geography in the same program.

Global Citizenship Cohort - Abdelmomen Ghedeir-Ahmed

First-year neuroscience student Abdelmomen Ghedeir-Ahmed travelled south from Cold Lake, Alberta, to attend the University of Lethbridge. He chose uLethbridge because of the world-class neuroscience program. Abdelmomen is currently participating in the Global Citizenship Cohort.

First-year neuroscience student Rejoice Makiwa chose the University of Lethbridge because she heard we have a spectacular neuroscience program. Rejoice is participating in the Challenging Worldviews cohort of the Global Citizenship Cohort (GCC).

First-year student Emma Marnik chose the University of Lethbridge because of the reputation of the environmental science program. Moving to Lethbridge, all the way from Whitehorse in the Yukon was a big and intimidating move. But the small-town feel of Lethbridge and the U of L was welcoming.
