Shining Student Sean Park
Sean Park chose ULethbridge because of the atmosphere and sense of community on a smaller campus—it allowed him to pursue a quality education while building relationships with faculty and peers to get the most from his ULethbridge experience.

Have you participated in work-integrated learning at ULethbridge? If so, please tell us about these opportunities.
I have completed four independent studies and two summer work terms under the supervision of Dr. Trushar Patel in the Laboratory of Medicinal Biophysics. In this time, I have learned to incorporate knowledge obtained in the classroom to investigate real-world challenges. I have been fortunate to work with and learn from many colleagues on multiple peer-reviewed original research articles and have shared our work at various conferences.
What has been your most memorable ULethbridge experience so far?
I am most excited about attending the upcoming Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California, to share our most recent work! I have also really enjoyed meeting and working with others as a Peer Learning Mentor in the Student Success Centre here on campus.
What is the most important lesson you have learned so far at ULethbridge?

Is there someone specific who has had an important influence on your ULethbridge experience?
Both Dr. Trushar Patel and PhD student Tyler Mrozowich have profoundly impacted my university experience. Both of these individuals have not only been great mentors and offered their support but have become even better friends.
Is there anything you wish you knew in your first semester that you know now?
Take a breath! Learning how to study is often more important than what you study. Relax, focus on growth, and enjoy the experience!
