Brody Fleischhauer has developed a love for history and political science's various sub-disciplines while at the University of Lethbridge. His time here has been marked by an internship at the Prentice Institute that provided valuable insights and friendships.
My most memorable experience involved my time as an intern at the Prentice Institute. I made some excellent friends and learned things that, in hindsight, I absolutely should have known already. However, I always value the chance to learn, and the receptive environment that the institute provided allowed me to do exactly that.

Why did you choose ULethbridge?
I chose ULethbridge because it was close to home. I have lived here my whole life and although I plan to move away after graduation, I cherish the ability to see my family and friends on a daily basis.

How have your professors impacted your education?
My professors have had a huge impact on how I view the world and what courses I take. Dr. Amy Shaw and Dr. David Hay have helped me cultivate a love for history, particularly the Middle Ages and the contemporary period. Dr. John von Heyking, Dr. Yale Belanger, and Dr. Lars Hallstrom have helped me develop my writing abilities and broaden my knowledge regarding the various sub-disciplines of political science, something I am very grateful for.
“Brody displays a delightful blend of academic excellence and ambition with a self-effacing humour and humility. He blends utmost scholarly seriousness with a cheerful curiosity that is a joy to teach.” – John von Heyking, Department of Political Science

Have you received any scholarships and awards?
I have received numerous scholarships that have allowed me to fund my undergraduate education. They have relieved me of the burden of worrying about finances and have allowed me to focus fully on my studies. I would like to thank the various donors for their contributions to various scholarships and grants. They have made a tremendous impact on my life and the lives of our fellow students, especially as the cost of post-secondary education continues to rise.

I hope to finish my undergraduate degree at ULethbridge and then pursue a law degree, with the eventual aim of specializing in and practicing corporate law.
