Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? What brought you to the University of Lethbridge?
I am from Kainai and have a son and a daughter. I had been teaching for 18 years under Kainai Board of Education. I wanted to expand my skills in teaching Blackfoot, and also help develop our program at Kainai High School. Language revitalization is important for me.
What will you be teaching at the University of Lethbridge and if applicable what is the focus of your research?
I will be teaching Blackfoot 1000 at the University. My focus will be developing the course and resources.
What or who inspired you to choose a career path in academia?
My family has been my inspiration to further my education. People in my community also have been my inspiration. There was always someone who sets the bar and makes me want to keep challenging myself. Being a teacher, I have always wanted to encourage others to continue with their education.
How do you like to spend your spare time?
I like to spend my time with community, family, and friends, and enjoy playing pool and golf in my spare time.
