The Faculty of Fine Arts is pleased to have Dr. Holly De Caigny join the music department as an assistant professor and as the director of the Wind Orchestra.

Tell us about yourself.

I grew up in Langley, B.C. and was passionate about music from a young age. I pursued a music degree from the University of British Columbia, with no real ideas of what I wanted.

From there, I studied at the University of Calgary, a Conservatoire in Paris, and the University of Alberta. Between different study opportunities, I have been working as a freelance musician, teaching lessons, and performing solo and in ensembles.

What drew you to the Faculty of Fine Arts at ULethbridge?

I like the smaller size of the Music Department and the focus on community. I think that there is a great sense of camaraderie and cooperation between both the students and the instructors.

What does your research and/or your teaching pedagogy encompass?

I conduct the Wind Orchestra, teach the saxophone studio, and teach other courses around conducting and education.

What are you most excited about for this upcoming year?

I'm most excited to have moved to Lethbridge with my family and the new adventures we can have here!

What has been your favourite thing about ULethbridge/Lethbridge/southern Alberta so far?

My students!
