The curtain is set to rise at the University of Lethbridge as Vibe Fest prepares to return to campus on Saturday, April 18.
Showcasing the top-level creative work of Faculty of Fine Arts students, alumni and employees, Vibe Fest promises audiences a vibrant, interactive celebration of artistic excellence.
Our classrooms and learning spaces transform into experiences that are open, inclusive and free to the public. From engaging performances to experimental installations, audiences are invited to explore the full spectrum of emerging art practices across disciplines.
Drama Creative Collab
In the Department of Drama, students, staff and faculty are preparing a creative collab through an advanced-level course for Vibe Fest.
The collective creation is a mashup of work inspired by the Sandman mythology and the Peter Pan story.
Students are involved in all aspects of the production, from performances in theatrical roles to technician roles, stage management and marketing — learning how to put together a play from start to finish.
Co-led by Drama Associate Professor Nicola Elson and Drama Instructor Lee Burckes, the creative collab will be an energetic theatrical performance that will feature multiple forms of theatre, including shadow theatre, puppetry and live sound.
"This course project is a capstone experience for our graduating students highlighting their amazing talents and skills acquired throughout their degree progress with us," says Lee.
"Being able to share performances of this project with a community audience provides our students with the opportunity to engage with a live audience and our community the opportunity to experience an important part of this educational journey."
The creative collab will be showcased at Vibe Fest on Saturday, April 18 and will be free for audiences to enjoy.
