Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Agartala, India, and left home after high school. I did my bachelor's in communication from Boston, USA. While studying, I was very involved in student services, as a volunteer, student leader, member of the student union and as a student worker. I have had some really great mentors, who became the reason for me to continue working with students, and approach student service from a holistic point of view. Later, I moved to Canada for graduate school and did my master’s in international and intercultural communication in Victoria, B.C. I continued working with students as a student coordinator and advisor in Vancouver, prior to moving to Lethbridge as a recruitment officer.
How long have you been at ULethbridge, and what do you do here?
I started my career at ULethbridge last summer. As an international recruitment officer, most of my workdays involve meeting virtually with students, problem solving, planning for events and budgets. But it also includes travelling abroad for high school visits and fairs to meet prospective students and their families.
What's the best part of your job?
The students! They are the reason that I am still in an academic institution since I started my journey as a college student. I enjoy working with them, be it helping them figure out which program to enrol into, to watching them walk across the stage on graduation.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I am still fairly new to Lethbridge and trying to explore more. As of now, it is just long walks with my dog, and I'm on a hunt to find a good bakery, so I'm open to suggestions!
