Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a relative newcomer to Lethbridge, having moved here four years ago from Kathmandu, Nepal, where I spent nearly a decade working with a non-profit while raising my family. We’re a family of five, with three kids aged 13 and under. Before that, I completed my PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) in 2012. My research and professional work have long been focused on innovation in education. Prior to joining ULethbridge, I worked at the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation at Lethbridge Polytechnic, first as an Education Development Specialist and later as Academic Services Manager. I also led the Sustainability Committee and remain deeply interested in education for sustainable development. With the rapid rise of generative AI and its growing impact on post-secondary education, I was excited by the opportunity to help advance the university’s approach to AI across teaching, research, and administration.

How long have you been at ULethbridge, and what do you do here?

I joined ULethbridge in mid-April as part of the ITS team. Much of my work involves connecting with faculty, staff and students across campus to support a coordinated and thoughtful approach to AI exploration and adoption.

My role focuses on supporting collaboration and alignment around AI across campus, building capacity and developing resources for faculty, staff and students, and promoting responsible and ethical use of AI.

What's the best part of your job?

Even in this short time, I’ve been grateful for the openness and support I’ve received across campus. Many people are asking similar questions about AI and its impact on student learning and success. Over the coming months, we’re working to develop practical resources and guidance to help the campus community navigate AI in thoughtful and effective ways.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to go hiking in the coulees and in the mountains. I also enjoy baking with my sourdough starter and working on making our backyard more water-wise with drought-tolerant plants. And if you’re up early, you might spot me trail running in the coulees.
