Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Saudi Arabia, far from Lethbridge and in a very different environment. After high school, I spent some time travelling, driven by a genuine curiosity about how people live and build community across cultures. Experiencing life through the perspectives of others has always been deeply meaningful to me. I learned a great deal about daily life, values and the warmth of the people I met along the way. Those experiences shaped how I see the world and deepened my appreciation for culture and community.
I have always had a strong passion for technology and programming. I knew I wanted to pursue it further in a place where I could grow both academically and through hands-on experience. When I learned about ULethbridge and its focus on undergraduate research, as well as the opportunity to work closely with professors, I felt it was the perfect environment for me. The chance to learn not only in the classroom but also in research labs is what truly drew me here.
How long have you been at ULethbridge, and what do you do here?
I have been working at ULethbridge for about three months since graduating. Before that, I worked as a research assistant in the neuroscience department on projects involving neural networks and machine learning.
Now I work in the Agility Innovation Zone. My role is to help students bring their ideas to life. I guide them through challenges, help them overcome obstacles and support them as they build confidence in what they can do. I try to create an environment where curiosity feels natural, where mistakes are part of the process, and where students feel excited to explore new possibilities.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is witnessing the moment when a student’s project finally works after struggling with it. That moment when everything comes together is powerful. You can see their confidence grow immediately. Being part of that learning experience is what inspires me.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy soccer. I play and I also coach local kids from the community. Working with them is something I genuinely enjoy, and seeing them grow, build teamwork and gain confidence is incredibly rewarding.
