Tell us about your background; When did you join the uLethbridge team and what do you do here?

I was born and raised in Pincher Creek. I moved to Lethbridge after high school and attended Lethbridge College where I received a Secretarial Sciences diploma. I started working at UofL in April 1990 working in Career & Employment Services which was part of Student Affairs and the Registrar’s Office. We were located on the 6th floor of UHall when I started and was part of the exciting move to the new Student Union Building in July of 1990. I moved to the Information Centre of the Registrar’s Office in 1995 and then to Student Records in 2012. I have worked in the Registrar’s Office for a total of 28 years now.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is helping all of the students over the years from the beginning to end of their career as a student at UofL.  I have helped students applying for admission, registering for classes, entering final grades, through to preparing their parchment for graduation. It is very satisfying to see a student complete the whole process. My job has changed substantially over the years with technology and automation but the part that hasn’t changed is providing assistance and service to students throughout their time at UofL.

How has your job changed since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year?

With COVID-19 we have had to change our delivery of service to mostly email and self service functions, but overall it has gone very well and both students and staff have adjusted remarkably given the circumstances. Students have had to make several adjustments to their education during the pandemic but have proven to be very resilient.
