Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Victoria, B.C. and, when I was six months old, we moved to Calgary where I grew up. After graduating high school, I moved to Lethbridge and attended Lethbridge College and completed  the Information Specialist program. After graduating, I joined the Registrar’s Office at the college as a summer step student. That turned into a full-time position. I had worked as a Registration Assistant for six years when a position became available at ULethbridge in the Information Centre. I decided it was time to make the move and come across the river.

How long have you been at ULethbridge and what do you do here?
In September, I will be celebrating 25 years at the University. My career began in 1998 as an Information Clerk in the Registrar’s office and after 10 years I moved over to Admissions. I started as an Admissions Assistant, then transferred to an Admissions Specialist. My role as an Admissions Specialist is processing domestic and international graduate applications and domestic undergraduate applications. Evaluating an application involves calculating an admission GPA, awarding transfer credit and offering admission or providing the applicant with information on what they need to do to gain admission at the University of Lethbridge.

What's the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is helping make dreams come true, from the beginning to the end of their academic journey. It begins with attending our information evenings, high school  events and open house. During these events we showcase what the University of Lethbridge offers, answer admission questions about program requirements and help applicants apply for their desired program, to then processing their application and issuing an offer of admission. During convocation I can be found helping pin the graduates regalia.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
We have a small acreage just outside of Lethbridge that keeps me busy. I enjoy spending time with my two children and two very busy grandchildren. During the summer I enjoy camping, boating and finding new trails to ride with my e-bike. In the winter, I look forward to taking a tropical vacation to get away from the snow.
