Jessica Haenni (BSc '23) is a leader on the basketball court. When the clock is counting down, you want the ball in her hands. Her leadership doesn't stop when the game is over. Jessica is a shining student with a bright future of helping others through a career in physiotherapy.

My time as a member of the Pronghorns Women's Basketball Team provided me with some of the best memories at ULethbridge, from home games in front of our energetic and loyal fans to long bus trips. I learned so much as a student-athlete and am grateful for the opportunities it provided me.

What is your most memorable ULethbridge experience?

My time as a member of the Pronghorns Women's Basketball Team provided me with some of the best memories at ULethbridge, from home games in front of our energetic and loyal fans to long bus trips. I learned so much as a student-athlete and am grateful for the opportunities it provided me.

What is the most important lesson you learned during your time at ULethbridge?

I learned that hard work pays off, both in sport and academics. I was passionate about basketball and the courses I was taking, and while it wasn't always easy, all the time and effort I put in over the years was worth the outcomes.

Is there someone specific who had an important influence on your ULethbridge experience?

I had so many incredible professors at the University of Lethbridge that made all the difference on my experience. They showed me what it was like to be passionate about a subject and instilled this passion in others. My coaches also had a significant impact on my experience here at ULethbridge. In addition to being knowledgeable and qualified coaches, they were incredible role models and mentors and helped me become a better athlete and person. I also could not have done it without my family. They supported me through the high and low points of university and I am so grateful for them.

Did you receive scholarships and awards?

I was grateful to receive several scholarships over the years that made a massive difference on my university experience. I was able to focus on my studies and my sport, with less stress placed on finances. I am truly grateful for all donors who support university students and hope to return the favour one day!

What have you gained from the liberal education experience at ULethbridge?

I truly enjoyed my liberal education experience at ULethbridge. It gave me the opportunity to take classes outside of the scope of my degree and become a more open-minded and well-rounded individual.

What are your hopes/plans for the future?

I hope to pursue a master's degree in physiotherapy, after taking a year off to travel.

What advice would you like to give those who are about to begin their journey at ULethbridge?

I would encourage newcomers to try new things, go out of their comfort zone and work hard. I think there is a lot more that you can get out of university in addition to a degree.
