Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I have an MSc in Exercise Physiology from the University of Calgary, with a focus on occupational physiology. I have worked with helicopter pilots, heli-ski guides, plywood-processing factory workers and physicians to incorporate learnings from training elite athletes into practical workplace and injury prevention strategies.

My husband and I moved here when he started his Family Medicine Residency, and I have worked with the Be Fit for Life Centre at Lethbridge College (now Polytechnic), Alberta Health Services, as the Clinic Director of the Chinook Bone and Joint Clinic and most recently, Well Doc Alberta (now Well Doc Canada).

What drew me to the University of Lethbridge and SAMP was an opportunity to be involved in a milestone and significant project in medical education in southern Alberta.

How long have you been at ULethbridge and what do you do here?

I started my position as project manager for SAMP alongside Dr. Richard Buck, our Associate Dean, in December 2024. We are working to build the Southern Alberta Medical Program, which is an innovative partnership between the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge. Funded by the Government of Alberta, our program was established to help address the urgent need for more physicians.

Currently, my role involves everything from creating team roles, liaising with community practitioners to generate support for the program and learners, and building relationships with physicians to encourage them to be involved as educators in the community. On a given day, I can work on the budget, source supplies for delivering anatomy teaching, review blueprints for the new space, talk with physicians, or work extensively with our partners at UCalgary.

What's the best part of your job?

Being part of building a new team and a new program at ULethbridge, in partnership with UCalgary, that will contribute to the health and well-being of the population of southern Alberta.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love being outside — you will find our family hiking, biking, camping, or running to work. If I’m not there, I am usually supporting both my girls in their ringette pursuits.
