What is your most memorable uLethbridge Calgary Campus experience and why?

As an international student, my experience at uLethbridge has been like a whirlwind of emotions. Coming to a new country, being away from my loved ones and starting all over again was a tough experience. But I was glad to be welcomed by fellow International Students who shared similar experiences. My most memorable experience was when I received the International Continuing Award given to International Students who have demonstrated academic achievement while maintaining full-time enrollment. It was unexpected, which makes it extra special.

Is there someone specific who had an important influence on your Calgary Campus experience?

My very first class on the Calgary Campus was with Prof. Craig Milner. I was so glad that he’s citing practical examples that he encountered in the corporate world. I worked in a very similar industry where Prof. Milner worked, so I was able to relate to many of his examples and that made my learning experience easier and more enjoyable. I can say that Prof. Milner set the bar high on that very first day of my university life on the Calgary Campus.

Another person who had influence me was Prof. Jonathan Hak. If given a chance, I would still want to attend Prof. Jonathan Hak’s class one more time, or maybe more. He’s very approachable, calm and a very down-to-earth person despite holding an esteemed position as a Crown Prosecutor. I greatly respect his humility and his skills of simplifying even the most complicated topic is very admirable. Prof. Hak will give you all the opportunities to learn more because he’s always open to all your inquiries.

There’s so many remarkable professors on the Calgary Campus that I would like to thank. Likewise, the staff were very helpful along the way.

What is the most important lesson you learned?

I learned that investing in education pays the best interest and we must not stop learning. It’s costly, difficult and very challenging at times, but in the end, it’ll be your greatest asset in this competitive world.

What are your hopes/plans for the future?

I plan to establish a career in the field of Quality Management System/Operations Excellence in any industry that may require my skills. Then soon put up a business that can create employment opportunities to others.

What advice would you give to students who are about to begin their post-secondary journeys?

You are in control of your sail; the resources are limitless, but your success will all depend in your willingness and your determination.
