Why did you choose the University of Lethbridge in Calgary?

I chose the University of Lethbridge in Calgary because of its strong sense of community and the welcoming environment it provides for students. The opportunity to study in such a vibrant city also played a big role in my decision. I knew that this was the place where I could truly thrive and grow as a person.

How would you describe the University of Lethbridge's Calgary campus?

The University is a hidden gem, fostering a close-knit and supportive community for its students. The benefits of studying at a smaller institution like this include personalized attention from professors, a strong sense of camaraderie amongst peers and a more intimate learning environment. It's a place where you can grow academically and personally, surrounded by caring individuals who are dedicated to your success.

How flexible is the University of Lethbridge in Calgary in offering programming that was tailored to your life as an international student?

As an international student working full-time, the University offered courses that were tailored to my unique circumstances, allowing me to thrive both academically and professionally.

Their understanding and support made all the difference in my ability to successfully navigate both academic and professional responsibilities. They truly understood the challenges we faced as an international student juggling multiple commitments. Their dedication to my success not only helped me excel in my studies but also made me feel valued and supported as a member of their community.

I will always cherish the memories and experiences I've had at the University, knowing that they played a crucial role in shaping my future. Thank you to all the faculty, staff and peers who made my time at the University so meaningful and unforgettable.

What do you plan to do with your degree?

I plan to pursue my CPA and make a meaningful impact in the accounting field. The education I have received has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in my career and positively influence my fellow aspiring CPAs.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to learn and grow at this institution and I am confident that the values instilled in me will guide me on my journey to make a difference in the community. I am excited to see where my journey will take me in the future.

How have your professors affected your education?

My professors have had a profound impact on my education, shaping not only my academic knowledge but also my personal growth. Through their guidance, support and mentorship, I have been inspired to see the world through new perspectives and push myself to achieve my full potential. One professor in particular, Craig Milner, completely changed the way I view the world by introducing me to new perspectives and ideas that I had never considered before. I am forever grateful for the positive influence my professors have had on my educational journey.

What is your favourite thing to do in or around Calgary?

My favourite thing to do in Calgary is definitely taking day trips to the mountains. There's nothing quite like immersing myself in the stunning beauty of Banff or Canmore and being surrounded by the tranquility and majesty of the Rockies. It's the perfect way to recharge and find inspiration amidst the hustle and bustle of university life.

The city itself also has a vibrant arts and culture scene, with plenty of museums, galleries, and events to explore during my downtime.

Overall, living in Calgary has not only enhanced my academic journey but has also provided me with a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world around me. It has truly been a gift to call this city my home during my university years.

What advice would you give someone who is considering the University of Lethbridge in Calgary?

As a proud soon-to-be alumna, I can honestly say that choosing this institution was the right decision. The sense of community, the dedicated faculty and the endless opportunities for personal and academic growth make it a truly special place.

My advice to anyone considering attending University of Lethbridge in Calgary would be to embrace every moment, challenge yourself and be comfortable in asking people questions. Even if it feels like your question is unintelligent, at the end of the day, you'll find the answer to a question you didn't know the answer to before.

Also put in the time and work needed to learn about yourself so well that you will know which table you should find a spot at. Not every space available or opportunity at a table is meant for you. Know what a good choice for you looks like.

Never underestimate the power of a supportive environment. Your time there will undoubtedly shape you in ways you never thought possible. You won't regret it.
