What is your most memorable Lethbridge experience and why?
My most memorable Lethbridge experience is getting to know the people, whether it was the staff or fellow students, a very diverse group of people. Each and every one of these connections deeply enriched my time at U of L and made my learning experience a joyous one. Is there someone specific who had an important influence on your uLethbridge experience? Quite a few, actually. Naima Tasfia, Dupe Okoli, Claudia Siller Vargas, and especially, Abbas Safaei. Whenever I felt like had given all I had, he would push me beyond the limits I was comfortable with. More importantly, becoming a better business student, a better friend, and a better me.
What is the most important lesson you learned?
Honestly, the most important lesson I learned at school is that it is okay to be curious and it is courageous to ask for help and support when you need one. Whether it was with school assignments, figuring out course concepts or finding new ways to do things, it was always advantageous to ask for someone else’s opinion, as well as their help. You never know how many other ways are out there to do things unless you look around and ask others.
What are your hopes/plans for the future?
My hopes and plans for the future are to continue my professional development, mainly in a way that impacts people around me for the better. I worked hard to get my degree and I am certainly hopeful that this degree will be the perfect foundation for what I want to achieve.
What advice would you give to students who are about to begin their post-secondary journeys?
Don’t give up on your dreams. Don’t let the difficulty of the exams and assignments take the joy of learning away from you. Don’t let your fears stand in your way of asking for help and support. We are all in this together! Pursue what’s meaningful and enjoy this phase of your life, c'est la vie!
