The University of Lethbridge (ULethbridge) is excited to introduce its newest faculty member to the Dhillon School of Business (Dhillon). Dr. Christy Tu joins us at the Calgary campus as an assistant professor in marketing. Dr. Tu hails from southwest China where she earned a master's degree in applied economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. Dr. Tu also holds a PhD in marketing from the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Tu will be teaching Marketing Research, Introduction to Marketing Communications and Social Media, Advanced Marketing Communications and Social Media and Digital Marketing. Her research interests are mainly in consumer behaviour, social influences and consumer creativity. Tu says she was first drawn to the field of consumer decision making during her Econ101 course in her second year of university. She has been eager to learn more about how humans make decisions in various circumstances ever since. It was around this same time, Dr. Tu gained interest in pursuing a career in academia.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Tu had the opportunity to work with fellow Dhillon faculty member, Dr. Rhiannon Mesler as her research associate. During that time, Tu had the chance to teach a couple of courses at ULethbridge's Calgary campus.

I greatly enjoyed and appreciated the small class sizes where I was able to build a one-on-one relationship with each student and learn from their experiences."

This was a major motivator in Tu's decision to seek out employment with Dhillon. Another was Dhillon's ambitious program strategy and the school's proximity to the rocky mountains. "As a young scholar, I am looking forward to growing as a scholar with the school together," says Tu, "and who can resist the opportunity to live in one of the world’s most livable cities with the Rocky Mountains so nearby!"

Welcome to the Dhillon School of Business, Dr. Christy Tu!
