Q&A with Fall 2022 graduate Chloe Luck
Master of Education (counselling psychology) graduate Chloe Luck (MEd '22) has spent the last two years working hard not just on her degree but also as a graduate assistant within the education department. She completed a research project Exploring teachers' perspectives of intergenerational trauma through a collaboration with my practicum placement and the university.
This allowed me to explore my research interests and enabled me to dig deeper into how to apply my counselling degree to working with a specific population.
What is your most memorable ULethbridge experience?
The most memorable experience was being part of a cohort. I quickly became great friends with many of the students in my program.
What is the most important lesson you learned during your time at ULethbridge?
I learned the importance of collaboration and help-seeking.
Is there someone specific who had an important influence on your uLethbridge experience?
So many people. My graduate assistant supervisor Chris Mattatall provided me with so much optimism about what academia could be. He made sure that I felt empowered as a student and ensured that I had every opportunity to be successful while conducting a research project developed around my personal passions.
My project supervisor Janice Victor. She fostered a love and understanding of qualitative research in me. She very patiently encouraged me and allowed me to learn from my mistakes. She is so lovely, and I am very grateful to continue to learn from her.
What advice would you like to give those who are about to begin their journey at ULethbridge?
I think I would advise them to put effort and intention into whom they connect with. My classmates and my mentors have made this journey successful.
