Ankit Mukherjee embraces campus lifestyle at ULethbridge

By the time he hit grade 11, Ankit Mukherjee was adamant about pursuing an education in marketing. From his hometown of Bangalore, India, Ankit wasted no time in his search for the best business schools in Canada. He applied to five universities throughout British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta and was accepted at all of them. Ultimately, Ankit chose the Dhillon School of Business (Dhillon) at the University of Lethbridge (ULethbridge) because of its reputable business program, smaller class sizes and its location. Testing the waters as a marketing major and then a finance major, Ankit found he had a better appreciation for general management and is now pursuing that as his major.

I loved the idea of more one-on-one interaction with professors and Lethbridge is the warmest of the other universities. Lethbridge is also considered a university town, which was very appealing to me."

What advice would you give those about to begin their journey at ULethbridge?

Get involved on campus as much as possible. There are countless opportunities to get involved with student organizations, clubs and events. By doing so, you can meet new people, develop new skills and make the most of your university experience. Whether it's volunteering, joining a sports team or participating in a club that aligns with your interests, there's something for everyone at ULethbridge. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. University is a time for growth and exploration, so make the most of it and get involved!

Are you participating in any extracurricular activities?

I've been elected as the Dhillon representative to the University of Lethbridge Students' Union (ULSU) for the upcoming academic year. These leadership roles have taught me valuable lessons on effective communication, generating innovative ideas, and empowering fellow students to create opportunities that can help them achieve their career aspirations.

What is your most memorable ULethbridge experience so far?

I served as the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Dhillon Business Students’ Association and it has been the best experience I've had so far. Creating opportunities for ULethbridge students and community members to engage with them has been a very rewarding experience. As EVP, you get to do so many cool things, like host amazing events like Chillin for Charity (one of our biggest events on campus this year). This was really fun to organize and it's the first time in four years it has happened. It's the first time I've seen the campus so lively and interconnected.
