Employee Spotlight: Spencer Pommells | Athletics Manager
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Grande Prairie, where I went to high school and played in the local minor hockey system. Prior to Lethbridge, I lived in Windsor, Ont., where I completed my undergraduate degree and played for the University of Windsor Men’s Hockey program.
When did you come to the U of L and what do you do here?
My wife and I moved to Lethbridge in the fall of 2016 when I began working within the Sport & Recreation department. Currently, I am working with our varsity coaches and student athletes assisting in the management of our athletic programs. This portfolio also includes leading special projects such as the Operation Red Nose campaign.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Without a doubt, the best part of my job is being able to interact with our student athletes and greater University community. For our student athletes, I am constantly amazed at the effort put forward in pursuit of their academic and athletic endeavours. As for the greater University community, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to build incredible relationships on campus that have forged a positive environment within Lethbridge for both myself and my family.
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
One thing people probably don’t know about me is that I am a diehard 60 Minutes fan!
