Communications manager, Pronghorn Athletics, Eoin Colquhoun (BA '02)
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m from Calgary and grew up chasing the hockey dream like many young Canadians. I started playing hockey from the age of four. I played junior hockey with the Calgary Canucks and college hockey at Mount Royal University back when it was in college and university hockey at the University of Calgary. Being a student-athlete gave me structure, and an outlet when studies were heavy or stressful.
I followed my wife to Lethbridge in 2000 and transferred schools again, this time to the U of L where I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Recreation and Leisure, with the last graduating class of that major. I continued to play hockey recreationally until about three years ago.
How long have you been at the U of L and what do you do here?
This is my 20th athletic season at the U of L. I handle Pronghorn Athletics communications, marketing, social media, athletics website, assist with fund development and oversee home varsity events.
What’s the best part of your job?
I really enjoy working with student-athletes. Seeing them grow throughout their post-secondary career as students, athletes and people is very rewarding.
What are you most excited about moving into the Spring 2022 semester for Pronghorn athletics?
I’m looking forward to the return to sports and having our student-athletes able to compete in the sports they love. I’m also excited about the U of L hosting the first three rounds of Canada West men’s basketball playoffs at the end of February.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time outdoors fly fishing, skiing or golfing, and spending time in the East Kootenays with my family.
